Good morning friends! Here’s the word for today, Tues. 27, Feb. 2018
Getting A Little Too Comfortable In Victory
Remain alert. Keep standing firm in your faith. Keep on being courageous and strong. 1 Cor 16:13 (ISV)
Glory be to our God who gives victory in all our battles. Our battles may vary but our goals are the same; and that is being victorious against the enemy. However we have this tendency of getting a little too comfortable just after victory.
War tacticians will tell you that the only way to win a battle is to attack your enemies, conquer them and occupy their territory. Few years ago, I remember a town called Baga in Borno state Nigeria. It was overrun and captured by the militant sect Boko Haram. Fortunately, The Nigerian military moved in and liberated the town. The military after mopping up, stationed a number of underequipped soldiers to secure the town and to repel any further invasion from the sect. However the sect returned a few weeks later to retake Baga… how unfortunate!
By the way of analogy, I find that many Christians are like the then Nigerian military. They are bound to leave captured territory unmanned or undermanned by dropping their guard spiritually just after a victorious battle.
Remember how you prayed without ceasing? Reading and meditating on the word of God day and night just before that breakthrough? Well you shouldn’t stop or slow down now that you have victory. It takes a lot of spiritual discipline to displace an enemy during a battle but takes an even greater discipline to keep him away after victory. To keep that new job, marriage, promotion, recovery from illness or any other blessings you may have received from God, guard your spiritual life by policing it effectively.
Prayer For Today
Father I thank you for the spiritual food I’ve just received, in victory give me readiness to man all my captured territories never dropping my guard in Jesus name.
