Group rejects Haddi
Ametuo Chairmanship of Kogi APC

…says he is diaspora Chairman
A group of APC Youth in Kogi under the auspices of The KOGI APC YOUTH
VANGUARD has rejected media reports to the effect that Alh. Haddi Ametuo
is the Chairman of the APC in the State, saying the party has “moved on
from the Haddi Ametuo era and embraced the verdict of the North Central
Zone of the Party”.
Speaking to newsmen in Lokoja after an extraordinary meeting, the leader
of the group, Comrade Obasun Samuel said Ametuo cannot continue to lead
the party from his “Abuja hideouts”.
“The NWC of the Party should be wary of the fifth columnists in its
midst who are carrying out a personal agenda in Kogi State. The National
Publicity Secretary should stay away from Kogi politics. He cannot use
Kogi to satisfy the ego of his godfather.
“Haddi Ametuo has abandoned the party for close to two years now, hiding
in Abuja when it was only his character that is chasing him about. He
cannot account for the support he received on behalf of the party and he
has been used to attack a government formed by the party in the state.
“The era of Ametuo is gone as far as Kogi APC is concerned. Anyone doing
reconciliation should beg them to come and work with our popularly
installed Acting Chairman who is busy mending the damages done to the
Party by Ametuo and his gang. You cannot be Chairman from Abuja hotel
rooms”.
The Youth Wing of the Party said APC has been witnessing peace since the
removal of Ametuo and his colleagues via a document by the Zonal Office
of the APC in North Central.
“As a group of APC staunch loyalists and believers in the leadership of
our President, Muhammadu Buhari, we wish to register our disappointment
at the way Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu handled his disagreement with the
National Chairman of the party.
“The reason we kept mute when Sen. Bola Tinubu was made Chairman of the
Reconciliation Committee was because of the respect we have for Mr.
President. If not there is no one in our party who doesn’t know one of
the National leaders of our party is an interested party in the whole
crisis rocking the states.
“While Tinubu has never hidden his disdain for the National Chairman for
standing by the truth in the Kogi and Ekiti governorship nominations,
it is also on record that some of his loyalists are the people dividing
our party in many states. We will defend Mr. President and the National
Chairman that led us into victory”.

PC Crisis: Kogi Gov
Backs Odigie-Oyegun

Following the recent rift between the National Chairman of the All
Progressive Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and the National
Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Kogi State governor, Yahaya
Bello has thrown his weight behind the party chairman.
LEADERSHIP recalls that Tinubu had written to the president, accusing
Odigie-Oyegun of sabotaging his efforts by inaugurating a parallel state
executive of the party in Kogi.
Speaking with State House correspondents on Thursday night after a
meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa,
Abuja, Governor Bello added that the governors on the platform of the
APC were also happy with the decision of the president to appoint Tinubu
to reconcile warring factions in the party.
He, however, contended that one solution cannot work for the different
states affected adding that some erring members in some states need to
be disciplined.
He said: “We the governors and majority of APC members have confidence
in our national chairman Chief John Oyegun. We also believe in the
President by appointing Bola Tinubu, our leader to reconcile some
aggrieved members of our party.
“However, one size fits all will not work in all the states where some
erring members need to be disciplined.”
Bello also stated that APC governors are backing Buhari for a second
term because the president had done well so far and had put fears in
state governors about corrupt practices.
Bello explained “There are three things. One, he has done excellently
well, secondly, on fighting corruption. Even we, among the governors are
competing among ourselves to ensure that the little resources
available, we utilize for the people. So, corruption is reduced to the
barest minimum.
“Next is the revival of the economy, job creation and making sure that
average Nigerians are comfortable. Based on these performance, we are
urging Mr. President to please run and fly in 2019.
“So, there is nothing more to that. And if you look at it critically,
the governors themselves who naturally have immunity, we are very
careful because you know that Mr. President is incorruptible.
“If you do, you are going to face the consequences. So, we are careful
about that and we are utilizing it.
“You see among ourselves, we are competing among the states to see who
does more unlike the previous regime.
“So, we want such Mr. President to continue to lead the way so that we
can follow and Nigerians will have the dividend of democracy.”
He said Buhari was still consulting with Nigerians and would love to
hear from citizens before taking a decision on the 2019 presidential
election.
“The President is still consulting and he wants more Nigerians to speak
before he can make up his mind. But I am very comfortable that
Nigerians will speak loud,” Bello stated.
